Stereotypes

Stereotypes happen on a daily basis, weather it be on a TV drama or in real life however archetypes are not as widely known. Life on Mars is linked with the other TV drama Ashes to Ashes. These both show the types of jobs men and women do. In this programme we can see 'Gene Hunt' stereotyping a typical woman in her job role by being blunt, rude, aggressive and racist. This is mainly because he is threatened by the amount of power the woman holds and is not used to powerful women. In Ashes to Ashes, Gene Hunt basically plays the same character but in a different programme, still being his sexist self, thinking woman should not be as strong as they are.This could also be known as a gender divide.
